99 years ago the first animated film was made. The film consists of 700 drawings on paper, the blackboard effect was achieved by shooting each of the drawings onto negative film.
The title refers to the ‘fantasgmograph’, a mid 1800’s magic lantern that would project ghostly images onto walls. The film is inspiring; the fact that this dedication existed almost 100 years ago to a format that is so lengthy and experimental.
99 years on and Animation is still as powerful, and as important.
